For daring to ‘beat up’ and ‘detain’ a police officer, a woman and three men were on Monday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court.
Kujembola Olawashina, 36; Kola AfolabI, 42; Alade Adeyinka, 26, and the woman, Toyin Obide, 49, are facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, breach of the peace, assault and obstructing a police officer from performing his duty before Magistrate Bola Osunsanmi.
The prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, told the court that the defendants and others still at large committed the offences on November 18 at Edge Base Technology, Ikeja.

According to him, the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by beating, obstructing and detaining a police officer attached to Area F Police Command, Ikeja.
He said the complainant went to the defendants’ company to arrest one of their workers who failed to honour police invitation in a case of fraud and stealing.
He said the defendants prevented the complainant from arresting the suspect, and that they beat and locked him up in a room.
The defendants pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Osunsanmi granted them bail.
The case continues on February 17.
