James Okoh, 26, a final year Sociology student, and Victor Uchenna Okefie, 27, were arrested by Enugu State Police Command, after allegedly conspiring to murder Mrs. Stella Uhuo, a US-based lady who
was vacationing in Nigeria.

Ohuo had been Okoh’s benefactor for long and had intimated him about her trip and requested him to come to the airport so that he could take her to Abakaliki to deliver some luggage sent through her to the families of her U.S-based friends.

On November 14, 2015, Ohuo’s family to received her at the airport, Okoh also came in a car, with his friend, Okefie. Her personal luggage were put in the car brought by her family, while the ones she wanted to take to Abakaliki were loaded into Okoh’s car.

Ohuo, Okoh and Okefie headed to Abakaliki. Okefie sat at the back while Okoh drove with Ohuo. Unknown to her that they had a heinous plan. Along the way, Okoh diverted off the busy Enugu-Abakaliki road, to a side road away from passing cars.

From the back, Okefie lunged forward, grabbed Ohuo by the neck with a choking hold while Okoh viciously hit her on the head. Then Okefie strangled her. They dumped her corpse along Enugu/Abakaliki express road.

They later went to Sabongari in Abakaliki to change the dollars they found on her and got over N850,000. They burnt her clothes and shared all the male clothes they saw in the luggage. Ohuo’s family later went to the police to file a missing person report.

Okoh was arrested on January 29, 2016, at his hostel at the Ebonyi State University while Okefie was traced to his parent’s house at Ajaokuta in Kogi State on January 31, 2016. They both confessed to the crime.
