Arsenal handed double boost as Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal train ahead of North London derby

Both took part in the session at London Colney suggesting they could win their race to be fit for Sunday’s clash with Tottenham at the Emirates

Arsenal have been ahead a boost ahead of the North London derby as both Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal trained on Thursday.

Spaniards Monreal and Bellerin were fitness doubts for the crunch clash with Tottenham having missed the Champions League win over Ludogorets in midweek.

But both took part in the session at London Colney suggesting they could win their race to be fit for Sunday’s match at the Emirates.

Kieran Gibbs is the latest to join the casualty list after hurting his shoulder on Wednesday while Santi Cazorla is expected to miss out because of an Achilles injury while Theo Walcott has the best chance of being fit after a hamstring problem.

Theo Walcott has a race against time to be fit

Gunners boss Wenger said: “We have still some uncertainties at the moment because Kieran Gibbs has been touched on his shoulder and I don’t know how will respond to that. I will see today.

“After, the players who did not travel like Cazorla, Mobreal, Walcott – there is still some uncertainty today, the closest to coming back looks to be Walcott. We will have a test with him today.

“Monreal has tests today and tomorrow and then we will decide. Cazorla is similar, he has not practised yet – he will try to go out today and we will see where we go from there. He is a doubt, yes.”

Spanish right back Hector Bellerin is expected to be fit after missing the trip to Bulgaria.
