If your neighbourhood needs a bit of cleaning up, we’ve got just the tool for you. A “Bat-Pod” motorbike that took its star turn in director Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight (2008) and The Dark Knight Rises (2012) has become available in a giant auction of movie memorabilia. Judging by the shape of those tyres, we doubt it was a very tight star turn.
The monstrous two-wheeler — which is expected to fetch as much as £80,000 — is of unconventional architecture, requiring it to be piloted with the rider in a prone “Superman” position. It is steered with arms and shoulders, freeing hands to operate the functional laser sights and non-functional .50-calibre machine guns, 40mm cannons, and grappling-hook launchers. This bike was one of eight that roared through the movies, and suffers a few dings from filming and associated publicity tours.
